Many contemporary pulpits have become like dark clouds hovering over the congregation. They thunder loudly, but never produce the much-needed rain. In this spiritual drought, exposition is being replaced with entertainment. Theology has given way to theatrics. Doctrine has yielded to drama. Biblical sermons have been substituted with dry lectures and philosophical discourses. The pulpit has become a platform for glib talks and cultural commentaries. A state of emergency should be pronounced upon the modern-day pulpit.
